I-360 VAWA: How Do I Cope With It All?
In early January 2019, I told my husband I was pregnant with our baby. He said that we had time and had to work on our relationship first. He wanted me to get an abortion and that was the worst for me, of all the things he did.
The above is one part of a touching declaration that we prepared for a Blandon Law client. We helped her prepare her Violence Against Women Act I-360 application for a green card and – much more important to win her case – we helped her edit her statement.
Our 20 plus years of expert immigration knowledge are at your service. Here’s more tips for I-360 VAWA applicants during the green card process:
Taking Care of Yourself Before
Before calling or contacting us through our website, get safe. The number one priority is your physical safety. Fred Rogers, my childhood hero, taught me that when bad things happen, look for the helpers. Tell your closest friends if you can’t tell your family. If you need to, call the police. Give people a chance to help you and they will.
Surviving domestic abuse – whether physical, mental, or both – is among the baddest of the bad. A person you trusted and turned to for safety hurt you either on purpose or recklessly. Either way, it hurts mightily. I know. It took me a long time to see the light at the end of my dark tunnel, to realize that I am better off now that he’s gone.
Taking Care of Yourself During
After you are safe, get professional help. Hire a therapist or speak to a leader in your community. There are shelters and government programs to help foreigners seeking a green card through VAWA. In fact, a well-known women’s shelter refers its clients to Blandon Law regularly.
To help me deal with professional and personal struggles, I meditate often. Mindfulness lets me see problems like a storm that is raging outside my house, but I am not in the storm. And the storm will pass. I recommend meditation to survivors.
By hiring Blandon Law for your I-360 VAWA case, we will take your immigration worries off your mind. We will contact you as often as needed – at no additional cost, our cases are done for one flat fee – to make your I-360 VAWA case as strong as possible. Help us help you get from “survivor” to “I-360 VAWA application received.”
Taking Care of Yourself After
The I-360 VAWA case is not over until the government decides. Sometimes, the government asks for more documents or clarification with a Request for Evidence, VAWA RFE. Our high approval rate is testament to the care we take when answering RFEs.
